But then I reached Chapter 10 and had to defeat Shuten-Doji. That was when I realized I had to actually start strategizing properly.
Since the Shikigami each player gets, as well as how the enemy attacks each time tend to be different, I'm not sure if this post would be helpful... but just in case, when I defeated Shuten-Doji, my team consisted of:
- Warashi (Level 21, Evolved, all skills at Level 1) To get consistent orbs so that Shikigami can use skills
- Kusa (Level 21, Evolved, only Healing Light skill is at Level 2) To heal everyone in the team
- Shouzu (Level 8, all skills at Level 1) [was planning to make her at least Level 10+ so that she has more HP/survivability] To distribute damage from enemy, so that instead of one team member receiving 400+ damage, all team members receive only 100+ damage. I think Shouzu and Kusa work very well with each other.
The Souls I used for each Shikigami is listed below: (Higher Soul level is better. Also it is not necessary to follow this list exactly...)
Warashi
- 2 Dawn Fairy (DEF Bonus 30%)
- 2 Nightwing (ATK Bonus 15%)
- 2 Watcher (ATK Bonus 15%)
[But since Shuten-Doji can heal himself, the battle might be a bit longer than expected. I suggest that maybe for Warashi, you can try using something like 4 Watcher souls instead (ATK Bonus 15% + Deals extra 50% damage against units with less than 30% HP).]

Kusa
- 4 Tree Spirit (HP Bonus 15% + Increases all healing effects by 20%)
- 2 Scarlet (ATK Bonus 15%)
Shouzu
-2 Tree Spirit (HP Bonus 15%)
-2 Shy Soul (DEF Bonus 30%)
-2 Holy Flame (HP Bonus 15%)
Before fighting, I made sure not to use Auto Mode. Because using Auto Mode means Warashi will keep using Trade-Off (she loses 30% health but gains 2 orbs for the team), and my main goal to win is to keep everyone on the team at full HP, whenever possible.
Edited on 21st October 2018 : It's possible to still use Auto Mode, just make sure you click on Warashi's image at the bottom so that it reads 'Normal' instead of 'Skill'.
This is how I arranged my team (the battle in this picture was taken after Shuten-Doji):
With this arrangement, the battle starts with Shouzu's turn. For Shouzu, I always use Water Circuit. Next is Kusa. Usually I use Absorption, but if the team's HP is below a certain level, I use Healing Light instead. For Warashi I always use Soul Fire. For Seimei, during the first round (before Shuten-Doji), I try to avoid using Spell: Protect. At the second round, when Shuten-Doji appears, defeat the smaller Spirits first (they reduce the team's healing). If the team's HP is almost 60 - 70%, then I use Spell: Protect, just in case there is not enough orbs left for Kusa to use Healing Light. Spell: Bind does not work on Shuten-Doji.
I'm not sure if this would work the first time you try it, so don't give up and keep trying! It also took me several times before I managed to pass the chapter... For me, Kusa is my ideal healer because of her skills, so I built my strategy around her (which is why I chose Shouzu to be in the team).
So I guess that's all for completing Chapter 10! :) All the best and good luck! The last battle of Chapter 10, after Shuten-Doji, is much, much easier, so no worries. :)
